British Values

We believe our school is an important part of our community and maintain these values are true to the school’s ethos.

Our school values embrace British values by promoting Learning through Life, in this we strive for our pupils to:

  • Try my best (Capacity)
  • Learn together (Inclusion)
  • Do it myself (Independence)
  • Learn anywhere (Community)
  • For the future (Excellence)

We promote British values in many different ways across our curriculum and through the different learning pathways in the school. Examples of this can be found on the mind maps below.

Throughout our curriculum we promote British values in the delivery of:
  • Religious Education; where we cover the principle religions and other world views

  • Themed days covering topics and religious education
  • Church services for Christmas and Easter
  • Citizenship and PSHE; including SRE
  • SMSC aspects in all lessons and throughout the day
  • Assemblies; including Open the Book
Through our lessons, school ethos, routines, structures and expectations we;
  • Enable pupils to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Encourage pupils to distinguish between right and wrong and to have respect for the law
  • Encourage pupils to accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative and to understand how they can contribute positively to our school and wider community
  • Enable pupils to acquire a broad general knowledge of and respect for public institutions and services
  • Further tolerance and harmony between cultural traditions by enabling pupils to acquire and appreciation and respect for their own and other cultures
